Young Concert Artists has always been one of our favorite musical organizations in New York City. It was founded over 50 years ago by Susan Wadsworth; our link began early as Susan and Stephen Simon (MC Music Director) had played 4-hands piano duets at Vassar College when they were both 20. The two continued to be friends, and often he was invited to be a judge at their annual competitions. The great prize for winning one of these competitions is professional management for three years - something that no amount of money can buy.
You never know when you go to one of their concerts if you will be the among the first to hear one of the future greats. Pinchas Zuckerman, Emmanuel Ax, Murray Perahia, and Paula Robison were all past winners. The concert with Bella a couple of weeks ago was stunning! I think that she is going to be someone whom the world will know about very shortly. I had heard Anne-Sophie Mutter about a month ago at Carnegie Hall and, frankly, I did not think she could hold a candle to Bella Hristova.
If you see a concert where Bella is playing, buy a ticket fast!
